Using Tesco Orchard to get free food and free Clubcard points
Tesco Orchard is a scheme designed to encourage Tesco customers to share their thoughts about particular products. Anyone can join Tesco Orchard, and you can use it to get free food and Clubcard points.
The idea is pretty simple. When you join Tesco Orchard you complete a few short surveys so that they know which foods/products you are interested in. These can be a little tedious, but are worth doing. Based on your survey responses you are invited to take part in particular programmes. Taking part means that you can test free products. You then share your thoughts and feedback with others. The quality of your feedback earns you Clubcard points, and affects your Orchard Score (a ranking out of 10). The higher your Orchard Score, the more programme invites you receive.
I joined Tesco Orchard in January and got invited to participate in the ‘midweek favourites’ programme. This meant that I got a free £10 voucher to spend on the Tesco meat range. I purchased lamb mince, chicken breasts and beef strips from their 3 for £10 range. Interestingly, I received the usual 10 Clubcard points on the £10 purchase (despite not having to actually pay!).
To earn some extra Clubcard points I also shared my feedback on the meat tested. I made up 3 conversations about midweek meals (minimum 100 words) which were ranked as ‘good’ and earned me 10 Clubcard points each. I also submitted one photo of a meal I made with a short review (minimum 100 words) – this was ranked as exceptional (!) and earned me 25 Clubcard points. These activities are all completed through an internal Tesco Orchard portal. There are also opportunities to earn Clubcard points for sharing your thoughts on Facebook or tweeting your thoughts, but I did’t want to spam my friends so skipped this part.
Sharing my feedback has boosted my Orchard Score to 6.3. Hopefully this will mean that I am invited to more programmes soon!
It is a good idea to sign up for Tesco Orchard. It takes a little while to get set up, but once you are involved (and have improved your Orchard Score) you are invited to more programmes, which means more free food and more free Clubcard points.
